Search engine giant Google is a company famous for dipping into the unknown. Ever since dominating the global search industry, the arguably eccentric business has attempted its hand at areas beyond Internet search. From experimenting in social media to dabbling in astronomy, the organization has a knack for pursuing the next big thing. Now Google has made a foray into the automobile industry.
What Google has come up with is no less than a concept car. Behold, the self driving automobile – a subject that has fired popular imagination for as long as we’ve had cars and comic books. From the Batmobile to the Knight Rider, intelligent cars have been the stuff of dreams for children and grown-ups alike.
Google showed off its self-driving vehicle for the first time at the TED conference in Long Beach, California. Currently implemented as a Toyota vehicle equipped with Google’s autonomous control technology, the system is sure to provide inspiration to hardware developers and auto manufacturers alike. The technology could possibly have environmental ipmlications as well, as an intelligent vehicle might be able to judge acceleration and fuel economy better than a human driver. Huge automobile fans ourselves, we wish them all the best with their transportation endeavour!
